A recent post on Reddit made the rounds, detailing how mods can be used to promote a particular subreddit to new users.
The post by user u/Sterling_Dee, titled “A Reddit mod for a subreddit needs a mod,” was the first to make the rounds on the subreddit.
The post was in response to a user’s request for an AMA, or Ask Me Anything, in which users can ask questions to a subreddit’s moderators.
The AMA thread was quickly flooded with users asking for help in moderating their respective subreddits, and the subreddit was inundated with new members.
Redditor Sterling_Deed explained to Redditor daniel_savage that mods need to be able to take on a role similar to that of a full-time moderator.
Sterlydee said that in order to promote new users to the subreddit, mods must take the lead role in helping the subreddit to attract new members and attract moderators.
The subreddit currently has a moderator, daniel-savage, who is a part-time mod and also works on other Reddit properties like r/games and r/food.
Sterslydeed explained that the subreddit needs moderators who are also “moderators of the sub.”
“Moderators can’t just be moderators,” Sterling_Savage said.
“Moderals must have a real-world-level of knowledge of the subreddit and of the community.”
The subreddit is currently looking for a moderator who is experienced with managing new users and moderators, and can help them build a strong community.
