With the election less than three months away, we are entering a critical time in the history of our republic.
For many of us, the 2016 election was a watershed moment in the country’s history.
We were witnessing the most consequential political and cultural event of our lifetime.
For us, it was an opportunity to reclaim our democracy and regain the full promise of American democracy.
As the result of the election, the United States has moved from a democracy in crisis to one in order to secure its future.
This transition has brought to mind a time in history when we had the chance to build a new nation and build a country that reflects our values and values of equality, inclusion, and liberty.
That time was the 20th century, and the American people had every reason to be excited about the possibilities that awaited us.
As we look ahead to a new and more prosperous era, however, it is worth noting that we still have much work to do.
It is important to understand the ways in which our democracy has failed the American voter.
