Pellegrini was not at the club’s training session on Monday as he and his assistant Roberto Mancini were in Australia for the first time.
He is still under contract with the club until 2020 and, with the exception of the January transfer window, he has not yet joined up with the squad for the forthcoming season.
However, he is happy to be back on the pitch and will be taking part in training again on Wednesday.
“He is a very good boy and we will see how he responds to the training,” Mancino said.
“I hope he is in a good mood, but I know he’s happy.”
The Italian said he is looking forward to a new challenge as he looks to take the club to the Serie A title.
“For me, this is a new moment,” he said.
“We’re at the start of a new era and it’s very exciting to be in the position I am in.
I’ve never been at the top of the league before and now I’m on the level of the champions.”
In this moment, it’s good to have something new to work on, to improve and improve quickly.
“Peloni is a young boy who’s just coming to the level we want him to reach.
He has to keep developing.”
