A woman from Kerala says she did not want her next wife to marry her ‘next’.
In an exclusive conversation with the Times of India, Darshan, 34, who is currently single, told the paper that she did want to get married and live happily ever after with her new husband, who she said she had been in love with for more than 10 years.
‘I did not have a strong sense of love.
My husband is a good person but we had a falling out.
I feel like a failure, he did not love me enough.’
I did not see the good in him,’ Darshans first-time encounter with marriage, said Darshani, who lives in a slum of the city of Kannur.
She was married to her first husband, Srikanth, for seven years in 2006, when she was only 14 years old.
‘When my marriage was done, Srinivas told me that I would have to be his wife.
He gave me a certificate of marriage and told me to be the wife of the man.’
He gave a certificate saying I was the wife to Srinasam.
He also gave a divorce certificate saying that he could not take me as his wife because of my age.
I am only 30.
Srinakans love was so strong, he gave me an ultimatum, which is not true.
‘In 2006, my family had a lot of money and we had no plans of ever living together.
I was already a poor student.
We did not know if we could have a good life together.’
‘We did not even have a flat, we had only two rooms and no electricity,’ Darnas second marriage.
‘But we were not alone in our love, Srisam came and gave us a place to live and I was happy to have him,’ she added.
‘We would go to movies and he would come and watch TV.
But we never met anyone else.’
The couple married in 2013.
‘After he left, Sisra, who was the first one to notice, came to me and said, “What is wrong with you?
You have been doing what you want.”‘
I did all I could to make him happy, but it didn’t work,’ she said.
‘It is not fair that he should pay me Rs 20,000 (Rs 10,000) for a flat he did nothing for.
He even said that he would take the money back.
‘He did not ask for my hand in marriage.
He did not say anything about money.
He just said he would give me Rs 10, 000.
I said, I will give him 10 lakh (Rs 6,000).’
I do not think that he will take me back as his bride.
I think he will only marry someone else, but I do think that I will have a daughter.’
‘Srisam does not love her anymore.
She never loved me back.
He never wanted to see me again.
We both have fallen out.’
Darsh’s marriage was a ‘love match’ The Times of Indian says that Darsh, a first-generation Indian who came to Kerala in 2009, had been living with her parents in the city for two years when she started dating Srikath, a well-known Kerala rapper and producer.
She and her parents moved to Kannadigas village, in the north of the state, in 2012, where they began to settle down.
She said that the couple began a life together in a small house, but Srikas relationship with Darsh did not work out.
‘Srikanth came to my house and asked me if he could give me money for a house.
I agreed but said that I have to pay my rent,’ she told the newspaper.
‘Then Srisaman came and said he could take Rs 20 lakh for a new flat and give me a flat as a gift.
I told him that I cannot afford a flat and I would pay my debt.’
‘He said he was going to take Rs 5 lakh (about Rs 3 lakh) for my new flat,’ Deshan told the Times.
‘The next day, he came and took the money.
I could not pay it because I am single now.
I went to the bank and told them that I am not going to pay.
I got a bill from the bank that was Rs 2 lakh.
I then went to my landlord, and he gave a notice to the police.
‘Darshan says that she was not able to get Srikam to come back and marry her because of her low income.
‘That is why I gave up on marriage.
Srisama was a good man, he helped me with my education and got me an apartment.
I never thought of marriage with him.
‘ ‘I was not
